It's a boy! Cory and Topanga welcome their new son to the Girl Meets World family and cast

Cory and Topanga now have a son.

Girl Meets World announced a new cast member on Monday for its potential Disney Channel sitcom.

The Boy Meets World reboot has given its star Rowan Blanchard, 11, an older brother who will be played by new-comer Teo Halm.

The pilot episode, which hopes to be picked up for a full season, follows Cory and Topanga a decade after the original series came to an end.

The onscreen couple now have a family with two junior-high-aged kids, and centers on their daughter Riley - portrayed by Rowan.

Teo, 13, was welcomed to the cast on Twitter by his new parents.

Ben Savage, who reprises his role as Cory Matthews, tweeted on Tuesday his excitement: 'Can’t believe I have a son… Welcome to the Matthews family @TeoHalm. #GMW'
And Danielle Fishel (Topanga) could not contain her parental delight as she welcomed her two fictional children with a celebratory tweet: 'I have an announcement to make. I have a gorgeous daughter (@rowblanchard) and a handsome son (@teohalm). @BenSavage and I love you both!!'

She continued her effusive tweeting with some reflections on parenthood: 'If having real life children is as hard as finding these two beauties (@rowblanchard & @teohalm) then I think I’m happy with being a TV mom. Ppl will be mad at me 4 saying this but whatevs. We worked so hard to find the perfect kids. We found them. I love them already. Get ready.'

Fans of the the coming-of-age classic can rest assured that the potential series will feature similar themes as the original.

Rowan's character, Riley, will face the same challenges of growing up as her father Cory did in the 1990s television show.

Production on the pilot has already begun and if the series is picked up will air during the 2013-2014 season.
