And now Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's romance is being recreated by Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler in new Lifetime biopic Liz and Dick.
An official publicity photograph from the biopic, currently being filmed in Los Angeles, shows Bowler kissing the smiling Lohan's neck.

Today's photograph shows her sporting the late actress's striking dark arched eyebrows and beauty spot on her lower cheek.
The posed picture looks remarkably like a pose between the couple from the 1967 film Comedians where Burton and Taylor share an embrace.

She has also worn a leopardskin retro leopardskin swimsuit for scenes with Bowler on a boat.
The actress has voiced her excitement at playing the legendary actress who died of congestive heart failure last year.
Speaking of her role, Lohan revealed in a statement: 'I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honoured to have been asked to play this role.'

'It was like being on set with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. It was really a moment.'
Taylor and Burton were first married from 1964 to 1974, causing a scandal as they began their affair while both married to other people.
They married again in 1975, but their second union only lasted a year, and they divorced again in 1976.
Welsh-born actor Burton died of a brain haemorrhage in 1984, aged just 58.
