'Gossip Girl was so great, but what’s the next challenge in life? Because, you know, six years is a long time.
'And as an actor who plays a caricature of myself on the show, I don’t think I’d say, "Watch Gossip Girl for my best quality of work." But I am very lucky to have had that experience.'
'I’m ready to move on with my life, and I can’t do that with Gossip Girl tracking my every move.'
Along with Ben Affleck movie The Town in 2010, the 24-year-old actress also starred in dramatic film Hick and Green Lantern opposite Ryan Reynolds, who she is now dating.
She plays Ophelia in the forthcoming Savages, a crime drama which sees her character kidnapped by members of a Mexican drug cartel.
And she found working with the movie's director Oliver Stone a particularly unique experience.
'Oliver is by no means a cheerleader,' she says. 'His movies very much reflect the strong, aggressive powerhouse that he is, so he’s not cooing at you along the way.'
Red alert: Blake talked about the end of Gossip Girl, her friendships and new film role in the accompanying interview
The star, who is reported to have purchased a new home with actor Reynolds in New York state, also tells the magazine she is 'slow to build friendships.'
She adds: 'They always end up being long and lasting. The way that I meet people is the same way that I’ve always met people. It might be weird if I was on JDate, but I’m not, so that’s good.
'I meet so many people in passing at parties, but I’ve never been a person who’s like, I know I just met you, but let’s exchange numbers and be best friends.'
Sheer delight: Blake has seen her public profile rise in the six years since taking on the role in Gossip Girl
